Sector specialists - consultancy

We are looking for sector specialists and analysts to work with us on specific topic areas

The Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit (ECIU) is a non-profit organisation working to support informed debate on energy and climate change issues in the UK. We are looking to expand our network of independent analysts to work alongside our core team.

We are looking for specialists to work with our team on specific topic areas in the net zero transition, including:

  • Economics and emissions reductions plans (UK / international)
  • Supply chains (technologies / fuels)
  • Land use
  • Transport
  • Power sector (generation / networks / demand-side)
  • Heat and buildings
  • Industrial energy use
  • Oil and gas sectors

This would be on a consultancy basis, so extremely flexible and would fit around other commitments. There is no minimum time commitment, we are interested to build connections with sector specialists to work on both a project-specific and longer-term basis, as well as building our network for ad-hoc advice and comment on specialist areas.

About you

You are interested in, and keep abreast of, developments in climate and energy policy; perhaps you already work in a related sector or academia. You have an in-depth knowledge of a particular subject area relating to our work; or relatively in-depth knowledge of the wider field. You’ll need to have some understanding of the wider political and economic context that climate and energy policy works within.

You have experience of analytical work either in an academic or other professional context and can quickly summarise simple data and draw conclusions, as well as conducting in-depth quantitative and qualitative analysis when required. You’re a good communicator and can present your findings succinctly and clearly; you’ll be able to verbally communicate these to colleagues as well as drafting more in-depth yet accessible written summaries for other audiences.

We aim to support diversity in our sector so we encourage applicants from all backgrounds and demographics.

    How to apply

If you think you could be a good fit, please drop us an email at jobs@eciu.net with your CV and a brief cover note detailing your specialism; relevant experience; and an example or two of relevant analysis you have worked on. We will aim to respond to all enquiries and arrange a follow up call if we think there is potential to work together.

All applications will be treated confidentially. We will store your information in our internal database unless you specifically request otherwise. Should you require adjustments to or clarification on the application process for any reason, please email hradmin@eciu.net
