Responding to comments by Sir Keir Starmer at Prime Ministers Questions saying that the Government will 'ban fracking for good', Jess Ralston, Energy Analyst at the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit (ECIU) said:
"Fracking is hugely unpopular and unproven, while the UK's geology makes it highly unlikely that it would be possible at scale. We wouldn't see any benefit to our bills and local communities don't want it.
"We're better off investing in new wind and solar - three-quarters of people support these renewables being built in their local area - which stabilise bills, and reduce our reliance on gas which we will never be able to control the price of."
