Commenting on the news that the Government is to expand electricity bill support for more businesses in the UK [1] Jess Ralston, Head of Energy at the Energy & Climate Intelligence Unit (ECIU) said: "Extending bill support to more businesses at this time of heightened oil and gas price volatility brings us more into line with how France and Germany have dealt with energy costs over several years.
"This week, the IMF found the UK's economy will be hardest hit by the war partly because of our reliance on imported energy like gas [2]. Businesses large and small are concerned about how their bills might rise the longer the war in Iran continues, which may be holding them back from investing, with experts clear that the best way to shield households and businesses from the next inevitable oil and gas crisis is to reduce our demand for those fuels altogether and electrify."
