The Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit is saying farewell to one of its most long-standing Advisory Board members, Lord Richard Benyon of Englefield, who will now be taking on a Ministerial role as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Environment and Rural Affairs.
Lord Benyon joined the ECIU Advisory Board when the organisation formed in 2014 whilst serving as a Conservative Member of Parliament for Newbury.
Lord Richard Benyon said: “It has been a pleasure serving as a member of ECIU’s Advisory Board for nearly seven years. ECIU makes an important and valuable contribution to the promotion of informed debate on energy and climate change, which is all the more important as the UK makes progress towards its net zero emissions goal. I wish ECIU all the best for the future.”
ECIU Director Peter Chalkley said: “Richard has been an invaluable member of ECIU’s Advisory Board since its launch in 2014, and his expertise, insight and enthusiasm for the organisation’s mission will be greatly missed.
“Richard has been steadfast over many years in his commitment to raising environment and climate issues up the agenda to the point where today these are topics at the forefront of national debate.
“It has been a privilege to have such a prominent champion expert on the natural environment on the Advisory Board, and we wish him the best in his new role”.
