GB Energy could help to accelerate the deployment of new renewables, reducing the UK’s exposure to price volatility in the international gas markets

Commenting on the news that the GB Energy Bill has cleared its final Parliamentary stages, Jess Ralston, analyst at the Energy & Climate Intelligence Unit (ECIU), said:

"Once operational, GB Energy should boost our energy independence by acting as a catalyst for private investment in the UK’s low-carbon energy sector and by bolstering investor confidence in the seriousness of the UK government’s commitment to achieving a low-carbon energy system by 2030.

"This in turn could help to accelerate the deployment of new renewables, reducing the UK’s exposure to price volatility in the international gas markets – which has left millions of households facing soaring energy bills in recent years." [1]
