Commenting on analysis by Cornwall Insight suggesting that households will see an extra £30 on their energy bills from April 2026 to pay for rising costs of the electricity transmission network [1], Jess Ralston, Energy Analyst at the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit (ECIU) said:
"Rising bills are still a struggle for many households this winter after years of volatility causing prices to spike.
"Wholesale costs are still higher than before the gas crisis started, and upgrading our grid after decades of under-investment is important for shielding households from future crises. Ensuring more British wind and solar can come online will boost the UK’s energy independence and help to stabilise bills in future."
