Responding to the launch of the “get Britain drilling” campaign by the leader of the Conservative Party [1], Laura Anderson, Senior Associate at the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit said:
"More drilling in the North Sea simply won’t bring down bills or shield Scottish households from volatile global prices.
The North Sea is already in decline, and doubling down now ignores where the real opportunity lies. The fastest way for the UK to take back control from volatile fossil fuel markets, ensure energy security and cut costs in the long term is to scale up clean, homegrown power and reducing demand through efficiency.”
