Commenting on an Environmental Audit Committee report on Seventh Carbon Budget plans [1], Alasdair Johnstone from the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit (ECIU) said:
“This week’s events in the Middle East put a different angle on the UK’s net zero energy transition, a reminder of the chaos caused to home and industry energy bills over the past few years thanks largely to the UK’s high reliance on gas.
"Many politicians fail to point out that reaching net zero emissions is the only scientific way we can stop man-made climate change, but it also means a transition away from the volatility of oil and gas prices which is particularly pertinent now."
