Commenting on low carbon and renewable energy economy statistics released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) today [1], Jess Ralston, Head of Energy at the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit (ECIU) said:
"These statistics confirm that the UK’s net zero economy has grown strongly, particularly in sectors such as electric vehicles and energy infrastructure, mirroring major global shifts to clean industries. The fall in employment in areas like energy efficiency may reflect policy uncertainty over the past few years which has left the numbers of draughty homes being insulated lower than a decade ago.
“If growth is the government’s core mission, these figures underline that net zero industries are already a crucial part of the UK economy. Policy stability will be critical as the UK competes for investment as the global shift to clean technologies ramps up further.”
